Wisdom, Gaming, and Venturing Out

Many of you who follow Adventure Rules likely know Athena of the gaming blog AmbiGaming. She’s a regular in community events here and a great inspiration to me as a blogger. You ever wonder how she got her start? Well thanks to Adventure Rules Remastered and the December 2017 Charming and Open event, you can read all about it! Go check out her origin story and give her a follow if you haven’t already!

AmbiGaming

A while ago, I stumbled across a blog that was having a “Charming and Open” blogging collaboration. I was intrigued, and so left a question for one Robert Ian Shepard of Adventure Rules, and received a question in return. Little did I know that this blogging collab would turn into a wonderful blogging relationship, full of adventure, competition, and great thoughts on gaming culture!

Imagine my delight when I found out Ian was hosting another Charming and Open event, exchanging honest answers for honest answers from any blogger that wanted to pick his talented mind! In exchange for my question that Ian has promised to answer (and will be linked herewhen it goes live), Ian posed the following to me:

“I would be interested in hearing how you got your start. What inspired you to create AmbiGaming…

Charming and Open – My Recurring Villain

While the partnership between last year’s Blogger Blitz champion Ellen and Bowser, King of the Koopas, didn’t go so smoothly during Black Sheep, they had quite the fun time together in the December 2017 Charming and Open event! I’m sharing the post again here as part of Adventure Rules Remastered, but be sure to go and check out Lightning’s original work on her snazzy blog Livid Lightning!

Livid Lightning

I’m still kinda devastated by Bowser’s heartbreaking Blogger Blitz defeat last Friday at the hands of Marjolaine. Alas, I should have never trusted her! Anyway, I decided to honor the big guy by re-posting my Bowser themed response to another great Adventure Rules community event I participated in last year called Charming and Open. Basically, you asked the gracious host Ian a question, and he gave you a question to answer in response. The questions were answered in the form of blog posts, thus creating a great sense of blogging community togetherness!

Charming and Open 2

Our adventure through the December 2017 Charming and Open event is coming closer and closer to the end! Tonight, let’s revisit this excellent submission from Art of Redress all about an anticipated game announcement for 2018. If you missed it back during the event or simply want to revisit this enjoyable community event submission, be sure to check it out and give Art of Redress a follow!

Art of Redress

At the start of December, I asked to be part of Adventure Rules’ event ‘Charming and Open.’ His explanation of the event is as follows;

“Charming and Open is inspired by a move of the same name in the tabletop RPG Dungeon World. In the game, it allows a character to ask a direct question and get an honest answer, but there’s a catch – in speaking openly enough to ask that question, they give the target the opportunity to ask a question on the same terms. This idea of an open exchange of questions to which both parties must give an honest answer is the basis of the community event”

So, I asked him what his redress would be – was there a game he wanted to complete but had missed out on?

The question posed to me was;

“What are your dream game announcements for 2018, the ones…

A Charming and Open Idea: My New Ride

For this morning’s edition of Adventure Rules Remastered, we’re revisiting a great Charming and Open submission by The Gaming Diaries all about the video game vehicle she’d want to have in real life. I loved the practical considerations she included and her ultimate conclusion is quite interesting. You’ll definitely want to check this one out!

The Gaming Diaries

Robert Ian Shepard over at Adventure Rules posted a Charming and Open community event. The idea is that you can ask him a question about video games, tabletops or blogging, and this question will be answered in a blog post. In return, if you choose to accept it, he will ask a question which you can answer in a blog post. This sounded fun and I eventually thought of a question… although I asked one that was asked the first time this event was run. I really should have checked first (sorry)! However, as my question was quite open he decided he could answer it again with a different response. So my question was “If you could take a holiday in any gaming location where would you choose to go and how would you spend your holiday there?”. In return I have been asked “If you could choose one mode…
