Greetings, adventurers! Ian here with a quick update for this coming week: I am going to be taking a week off from the blog.

Really, it’s okay. You can dry your tears, my friends. It’s only a week, after all, and I do have some plans for how everything is going to go down.
First, my reasoning. I honestly need a “mental health” week. I’ve had a lot going on this month – between traveling frequently for work, a surgery in the family, my son being sick, and preparing to be in a friend’s wedding, my mind has been all over the place. I literally lost track of what day it was at one point. Nothing that has happened this month has necessarily been bad, but it has all put me in a situation where I don’t feel like I’ve relaxed lately. This is particularly evident when I am blogging – instead of feeling excited to put words on the page, I feel drained as soon as I pull up WordPress. Even stuff I am really excited to write about feels like a chore; I seriously struggled to finish the article on the ARMS Direct, and I loved those announcements and am stoked for that game.
On top of all of that, my month isn’t going to be slowing down. My next two weekends are going to be busy, giving me little time to get much writing done. And when I do have free time, I’m going to be even less motivated to write because I am going to be playing Fire Emblem Echoes, which released here in the States on Friday. I’m crazy excited for that game and I know from experience that while I am playing it, I will want to focus on soaking it in and have no interest in writing articles about anything else.

So rather than force myself to create less-than-stellar content, I am going to take some time to breathe. I’ll get my adult responsibilities knocked out, enjoy some Fire Emblem in my free time, and then come back after a week. I should be my old self by then, and maybe even ready to push out some guides for Echoes!
Now here’s the fun part: while I am going to be taking a literal week off from writing, that doesn’t mean there will be no Adventure Rules content this week. I am still planning to have posts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, just like usual. In fact, these posts are going to be part of my next interactive event here on the blog! Now don’t get too excited, because this won’t be interactive to the extent that Charming and Open was. But it is a chance for you to have a lasting impact on Adventure Rules, specifically by influencing what kind of content I’ll be featuring moving forward. I’m gonna shut my trap and let you do the talking for a change!

Here’s how it’s going to work. Throughout the week, the posts going up will be posts in the style of retired segments here on the blog. Most of these segments are very old, old enough that the vast majority of my active followers probably won’t have read any of the originals. I am going to post three new posts in each of these retired segments, as well as linking the original posts in those segments so you can check them out as well. At the end of the week, I’d like for you to cast your vote for the segment that you thought was the most enjoyable. The winner will receive a nice Phoenix Down and will come back to the blog on a regular basis!
The future of Adventure Rules depends on you, my friends. Enjoy this week’s content, think carefully, and cast your votes next weekend to choose which segment will be joining our ranks once again. I have every intention of enjoying my break, and I hope you enjoy it too. Thanks for reading!
Low-key hoping for a return of Mario Party 😉
